Turkey Shepherd’s Pie

Ingredients
  • 4 cups turkey meat, chopped
  • ¼ cup red onion, chopped
  • ½ cup tomato, diced
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Gumbo File powder (sassafras powder) or just use beef gelatin powder
  • 1 tablespoon beef gelatin powder
  • Pinch of paprika
  • Pinch of parsley
Preparation
  1. Melt butter in a pan. Sauté onion, add turkey and tomato.
  2. Mix in thyme, rosemary and Worcestershire sauce.
  3. Add heavy cream and stir to mix. Let it simmer for 1 minute.
  4. Stir in Gumbo File powder and beef gelatin to thicken the consistency. Let it simmer till it gets thicker. The longer you simmer it gets thicker
  5. Pour turkey mixture into a baking dish. Top with mashed cauliflower starting around the center towards the edges and smooth with a rubber spatula. Garnish with paprika and parsley.
  6. Broil in the oven for 10 minutes, or until the top of the cauliflower lightly browned.
  7. Remove from the oven and let it sit for 10 minutes before serving.
