Café Latte Brevé (pronouns it as Bra-Ve), is an American variation of a latte; a milk base espresso drink using steamed half-and-half, which is half cream and half milk.

This was usually the beverage I order from the coffee outlet in the airport during my travels. A small cup of Café Latte Brevé contains about 8 g of total carb, 5.5 g protein and 21g fat. It has a fair amount of fat, and it keeps me satiated until dinner.

Normally, 8 grams of carb in a cup of beverage, I would consider it relatively high in carb. But when I can’t find any other decent low carb high fat food during transit and used it as a fat ‘meal’, it is a reasonable amount.

Lately, I tried exploring to reduce the amount of total carb in a Latte Brevé by adding heavy cream and reduce the amount of half and half. The taste is even creamier and the total carb reduced to 6.5 g in one cup.

So now instead of ordering the usual Café Latte Brevé, I started to order it with 1/3 of heavy cream and 2/3 of half and half. And I call it a Café Latte Premium Brevé.

When I order this beverage at any coffee outlet, I said: “May I have a Café Latte PREMIUM Brevé, please!” I did emphasize the PREMIUM just to make it clear. The barrister would usually ask what is a Premium Brevé. I’ll then explain that it is made with 1/3 of heavy cream and 2/3 of half and half.

May be someday the Café Latte Premium Brevé will get known in the coffee industries. 😀

You can try making a Café Latte Premium Brevé at home.
